Who’s Up for Chicken?
I’ve been doing a lot of reading about what’s next for churches…and none of it seems to contradict the basic premise of how people get connected:
- Welcome me.
- Find me a friend.
- Give me a job.
Finally, one more for churches, which is still part of our core competency, I hope:
4. Show (or tell if you must) me something interesting about God.
There are many ways to do this. You can bring someone to worship, or you can bring a word about the church to them. You can also invite them into your church home without any bigger motive than this:
“Let’s EAT!”
Thanks to the Stewardship Team, in large part led by Michele Landes (and supported by Bill) we had a fine time celebrating one another’s company at the Pilgrim Annual Chicken Barbecue. It was fun!
We came, we saw, we conquered mountains of chicken. Many sat with folks we knew. Some sat with folks we didn’t know! We played cornhole, among other games, and Sally Watters kept the historical society open for folks to see “what goes on in there.”
Thank you to all involved for making space at Pilgrim Church for fellowship. It was a wonderful day, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
