PCYG had a wonderful service trip to Maine July 20 – 23rd, 2023. We had 17 young people participating. Included in that group we had several college age PCYG alumni. There were four adult chaperones as well.
This year’s theme was Let go… Just love!
We worked with York Habitat for Humanity at their ReStore. This store is a place where people can bring donations and the items are resold in order to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
Our group was able to help with a bunch of different projects, including landscape work, creating garden beds, painting inside the building, helping with donations, hanging pictures, and helping with multiple other projects as needed by Habitat. The group formed wonderful relationships with other volunteers and employees at the center.
We were able to reflect on themes of love and forgiveness and the teens built leadership, and communication skills throughout the process. We explored faith through the use of different scriptures relating to forgiveness and love each day.
We also did things like drops of love – which is looking for places we saw kindness, and warm fuzzies, which is recognizing and appreciating each person on the trips unique qualities and gifts.
We celebrated our seniors who just graduated from high school. We had six of them on the trip this year, Abby Hennessy, Alex Hile, Sarah Coldwell, Irene Garton, Ada Gebauer, and Eve Hayden.
Thank you so much to everyone at Pilgrim who helped make this amazing trip possible!
Blessings,
Sarah Hile & PCYG Leadership Team
