Big Wins at the Southborough Pumpkin Walk & Heritage Day!

Several Pilgrims came together to share fun, fellowship, and community outreach during the Pumpkin Walk and Heritage Day Festivities.

On Sunday night we gathered at the front of the church with Michele, Rik, Sue, Charley, and the entire McLeod family to pass out apples, cider, and cider donuts to Southborough’s Pumpkin Walkers. We attached a small postcard that included the church website and an invitation to join us at worship and online. We played spooky music, lit lights, gave out freebies and talked to hundreds of residents. It was another fun year of community outreach.

We also opened the church so folks could use our bathrooms, a very real need on a cool night. Several even asked to see the sanctuary and we brought many folks in to see the church. The quote of the evening was definitely: “They even have a church upstairs in there!”

After a fast cleanup, we returned the next morning for a day of Heritage Festival Fun at St. Mark’s Field.

We sold baked potatoes with a drink, and the response was wonderful. We sold out by 12:30, as we were one of the few savory options available at the entire event! Folks kept telling us how grateful they were that we had vegan and vegetarian options too. A baked potato is excellent outreach in Southborough! This day saw Cindy, Michele, Lily, Charley, Kathy, Carla, Diane, Bill, Sean, Karen, Jenna, Heather, Spencer, Nancy, Paul, Katherine, and others pitching in. It was a fun day, and we made a little profit thanks to all the donations, including key items and support from Roche Brothers and Hannaford’s, along with personal individual donations.

The good news was that we were out in the community reminding people that Pilgrim cares about Southborough and wants to be a part of their lives!

Thanks to everyone for helping us live into our vision statement in October: Growing Faith. Strengthening Families. Loving All.
