Join Pilgrim Church on Fridays in December for an animated film series highlighting the themes of Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love! This film series of beloved classic (and new classic) animation, curated by Rev. Charley Eastman, is designed for families and friends of all ages to explore the themes of Advent. These topics are relevant to folks who attend church…and to those who don’t! This program is free and open to the public. If you’d like to bring a donation to the Southborough Food Pantry, that would be a big help. Check their list of current needs here.
We’ll gather at 7 pm on December 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd in the Fellowship Hall in Pilgrim Church. There will be table seating and popcorn will be provided, but feel free to bring other food and drink if you prefer. We’ll start the program at 7:10 with a brief introduction from Rev. Charley about why the film was chosen and why it’s relevant, and then we’ll watch with our big screen projector and world-class sound system. After the film, anyone who wants to stay after for a brief discussion is welcome, and Charley will have discussion question for families to take home as a handout if you need to get on the road.
Here’s the schedule:
December 1: Advent Week of Hope, with Disney Animation Studio’s Tangled (2010).
December 8: Advent Week of Peace, with Pixar Animation’s Coco (2017).
December 15: Advent Week of Joy, with Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo (2008).
December 22: Advent Week of Love, with Pixar Animation’s Up (2009).
Stop by the Pilgrim Church blog to read a weekly of synopsis of each approaching film. Decide if each film is right for you or your family by reviewing them at sites like Common Sense Media. All four were chose to be family friendly, great for kids from 1-101, and all are welcome.
This program is free and open to the public, furthering the Pilgrim Church vision statement: Growing Faith. Strengthening Families. Loving All.
