This week we cross the divide from Thanksgiving celebrations into Christmas preparations.
Pilgrim Church is hoping you’re taking some time to reflect on the themes of the Christmas season, whether you’ve got a church connection or not. Feel welcome at our free Animated Advent Series, Friday nights from December 1st through December 22nd.
Our first film is Tangled, and we chose it because it speaks a lot about the Advent theme of Hope. When we look around the world, we can see a lot of places where hope is flourishing. We can also see many where it seems in short supply. Hope brings the possibility of reconciliation, healing, and worthwhile conversation. We all need more of that.
December 1st is not just the start of December. It’s also the start of Advent, the season leading to Christmas.
In the Tangled story, Rapunzel is hoping for the moment when her life begins, as the song says. Each character around her in the story is hoping for something too, though not always with such virtuous hopes as Rapunzel. Regardless, this story of love and redemption is a rollicking good time and appropriate for kids of all ages.
