So, have you ever considered joining a committee or being a Deacon?
No! Not interested. I have TOO much on my plate and really cannot have any more commitments. I just can’t do it.
Yes! I’ve done it before, I know what it is like – the hours, the multiple commitments, the many meetings, always being available……..yada, yada, yada. Yet, do you know the role??
Over my time at Pilgrim Church, I have been on Christian Education, Stewardship, Outreach, been the Superintendent and now a Deacon and some of those have been for multiple “tours”. That said, I only have been a member since approximately 1998, and I don’t say this to announce, “look at me!” I say this because we ALL play a role in the vitality of Pilgrim Church and we all care, so I am asking you to find a way to plug in.
The Diaconate, for instance, may seem like a lot of work, but it is what you make it to be. The “God Squad” has adjusted the way that we work to allow busy people to participate. We are a great team that collaborate and cover for each other and simply make it work in our lives. We lean on each other when we need and step up for each other, when one of us can’t do something and guess what, we don’t feel guilty when we can’t do something! Our meetings are hybrid, we ZOOM if needed and it works! We text when we have an issue, and we add our two cents IF WE CAN! And we balance each other out, just like any great relationship or team – we support each other for Pilgrim Church and for life.
Consider getting involved. Be a DEACON. Be a Committee Member.
WE NEED YOU!
