The Good, the Bad, the Indifferent?

As the nights cool here in the third week of August, summer is definitely slipping away. Though maybe you weren’t too concerned, given the sweater of a July this year! I love New England and our changing seasons. And each season presents us with an opportunity to evaluate what we’ve been up to.

This year, Rev. Paul Sanderson and I embraced an old tradition that Pilgrim used to share with the First Community Church here in Southborough. We shared our human resources across the ten weeks of summer, with Paul, Monica, Mike and myself all doing two services a week for five weeks each.

I had the first three Sundays to preach, then Paul had the middle five, and now I’m wrapping up the final Sunday this week, August 25th.

How was it?

I have a beloved mentor in Rev. Bob Pazmino, who focused his study and ministry on Christian teaching. One of the key things in his playbook as an educator is evaluation. He believe that instruction without evaluation is missing the chance to grow and improve, and I feel it’s the same with all our ministries. Every so often we need to step back and take stock!

How was it having a different preacher at Pilgrim? What was it like ending services knowing that the minister had to get on the road to get to another church? What messages inspired you? Which ones fell short? If you found something lacking, what would you do differently for next year?

I’m interested in any opinions you’re willing to share. Shoot me an email at cfeastman@pilgrimchurch.us, or text, call or tell me in person. I love getting feedback, including constructive criticism. I believe we learn and grow better through sharing.

Also, please note that our worship time will return to 10 am on Sunday, September 8th.
