There’s a lot happening at and around Pilgrim Church over the next couple weeks…don’t miss out
You made your list, you’ve checked it twice, you’ve ordered presents and food and put up decorations…but what about a little time for you? This year, Pilgrim’s got a full lineup of Christmas services and events as we barrel on toward Christmas.
Did it feel like you had less time to prepare this year? Because of the way the weeks fell, some folks are feeling like they’ve got little time to breathe from Thanksgiving to Christmas. But there is good news! God is here, and God is good, and you deserve a chance to reconnect with what truly matters. Especially when you’re busy.
So Treat Yourself, and Mark Your Calendar…
Wednesday, December 18th: Blue Christmas Service, a shared service between Pilgrim Church and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. This service will start at 7pm and it’s in the sanctuary of St. Mark’s Church again this year. However, there is a twist…Reverend Charley will be preaching. Join us for a time of reflection and self-care. Blue Christmas is a great service for anyone who’s not feeling “merry and bright” during the holidays. Whatever the reason, come join us as we share our burdens and care for one another.
Saturday, December 21st: Family Christmas Breakfast and Carol Sing, at 8:15 am in the Fellowship Hall of Pilgrim Church: What’s better than a big breakfast? A Big breakfast with friends, family and song! Sponsored by Pilgrim Men’s Fellowship, this annual favorite is filling…with food AND feeling! Coffee will be served at 8:15, and breakfast starts at 8:30. Jim Duncan will accompany us as we sing over pancakes and eggs and bacon (oh my)!
Sunday, December 22nd: Christmas Sunday Worship at 10 am. It’s the last Sunday worship of advent, when we celebrate the Advent Sunday of Love. Please join us for great music (favorite classics and some modern gems as well) and healing fellowship in our sanctuary.
Tuesday, December 24th: Christmas Eve Family Pageant Service at 6:30 pm. This is a great service for kids and families of all ages. Bring a friend, bring your sense of humor, and prepare for worship that dramatizes the Christmas story with a cast of dozens. This early service is great for anyone who needs to get kids to bed before someone brings presents…or for anyone who likes to put a bow on Christmas Eve on the early side. After worship, join us in Fellowship Hall for cake to celebrate the most important birthday of the year.
Tuesday, December 24th at 10 pm: Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols. For some, this feels like the most sacred service of the year. We don’t pick favorites, but it is a special one. Hear the familiar scriptures as we share the Christmas story again, supported by some of the most enduring hymns in the Christian tradition. At the end, we’ll pass the light, candle by candle, as we sing “Silent Night” and await the tolling of the bells. You won’t want to miss this one. Afterward, feel fee to stay for refreshments and fellowship as we wind down and prepare to wait for Christmas morning to come again.
