but Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.’
Matthew 19:14 (NRSVUE)
At Pilgrim Church, we’ve been busy making connections with families and kids over the past few years, and it’s really paid off. Our worship services are full of life, and the Prayground (the area at the back of the church where kids can gather for activities) is sacred space now in our sanctuary.
It used to be that children were supposed to be “seen and not heard” in places like church.
I’m glad it’s not so anymore. In fact, on June 8th, we give the kids the reigns and let them take over the service. They get to take on leadership roles and even bring the message!
And though this isn’t a new tradition at Pilgrim Church, we’ve never had this particular group of kids at Pilgrim before. I look forward to the fun of this special service on June 8th, but the it doesn’t end there: we’ll have a bouncy slide, games and activities and a special fellowship hour right after worship.
Special thanks to our Christian Education Team working to make this service possible.
This is a great Sunday to bring a friend to see how children and youth are cherished at Pilgrim Church. See you there!
