Confirmation Confirmed!

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.  For now we see only a reflection, as in a mirror, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

1 Corinthians 13: 11-12 (NRSVUE)

Confirmation will begin again in October

What is confirmation, exactly? Confirmation is a few things, to be honest. First, it’s a group that meets once a month (or so) at Pilgrim Church made up of the minister, a trusted adult co-leader, and a number of High School students. Confirmation is also the thing that happens in Sunday Worship at the end of the school year in May, where participants share a statement of faith and receive the Right Hand of Fellowship to become church members at Pilgrim.

It’s also a place where we eat pizza, have fun, and talk about issue of the day and our faith journeys. For some, it will result in a statement of faith that sounds fairly traditional…for others, it will be different. It’s all up to the Confirmand (that’s the fancy term for someone going through the Confirmation program).

Confirmation Sunday is a big celebration!

Because we get to see young people making the transition into adult membership in church. But also because we get to hear about their faith, which is inspiring to us and a joy to be a part of. It’s a great service to invite friends and extended family to. So if you’d like to be a part of our Confirmation Class of 2026, or if you know a young person we should reach out to, please contact Rev. Charley Eastman or our Minister of Communication, Debbie Rowe, in the church office.

We’ll let you know about dates and our schedule once we’ve heard back from folks. We think our class will probably be from five to ten or so people, but we’ll see who’s ready and then we’ll pick our date for Confirmation Sunday in 2026. Please keep all our Confirmands and our leaders in your prayers for a fun and inspiring process!
