Our Healthy Living Small Group starts up again for fall on September 21st, Mondays at 10 am
We’ve got a couple weeks to connect and spend some time together, and then we’re starting a new book: Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel’s Eat Your Ice Cream. Each week we’ll read a section of the book and discuss what we’ve read and learned. Here’s a description from the publisher:
In Eat Your Ice Cream, renowned physician Ezekiel J. Emanuel argues that life is not a competition to live the longest and that ‘wellness’ shouldn’t be difficult; it should be an invisible part of one’s lifestyle that yields maximum health benefits with the least work.
Charley has broken the book up by chapters and added a focus scripture for each one
Here’s the schedule:
October 5th: Introduction and Chapter 1, “Don’t Be a Schmuck.” Focus Scripture: Galatians 5:22–23
October 12th: No meeting, Columbus Day.
October 19th: Chapter Two, “Talk to People. Focus Scripture: Hebrews 10:24–25
October 26th: Chapter Three, “Expand Your Mind.” Focus Scripture: Psalm 42
November 2nd: Chapter Four, “Eat Your Ice Cream.” Focus Scripture: Eccesiastes 3:9-13
November 9th: Chapter Five, “Move It!” Focus Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
November 16th: Chapter Six, “Sleep Like a Baby.” Focus Scripture: Psalm 23
November 23rd: Afterward, “Be a Mensch.” Focus Scriptures: Colossians 3:16 & Titus 2:7
You don’t have to read the book to participate, but you’ll get more out of the material if you do. Eat Your Ice Cream engages some themes we’ve dealt with before, in a fresh way: quality of life, joy in the process, and feeling great day by day.
You can come every week or drop in when you can. Either way, remember Healthy Living continues on Mondays at 10 am in the parlor, and you are welcome.
