Jon Wortmann, Minister
A graduate of Carleton College and Harvard Divinity School, Jon began his service at Pilgrim in 2001. He is a director of the Worcester Area Mission Society, has completed 39 short-term mission trips to cities like New York and disaster areas like New Orleans, and is the author of five books on stress management, leadership, mindfulness, organizational communication, and golf. His favorite spiritual practice is centering prayer, and he describes golf as a personal problem from which he never hopes to be rehabilitated. He lives with his wife in Arlington.
Julie Cedrone, Minister of Pastoral Care & Christian Education
A Southborough native, Julie is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Harvard Divinity School. She served as a hospice chaplain in San Francisco before returning to Pilgrim Church. Her passions are divinity and the arts and the spirituality of children. She plays the flute, loves to write, and lives in Northborough with her husband, three children, one cat, one rabbit, two turtles and eight chickens.
Grace Choi, Minister of Music
Grace is a graduate of Brandeis University, Peabody Conservatory,and Seoul National University. She has received numerous awards, fellowships, and scholarships internationally. She has been a church musician since she was a child. Grace was a Music Director in Weston, Lexington, and Andover prior to joining Pilgrim Church in 2008. She believes that music is a magical inspiration for our spirituality. Music can help us communicate with God, connect among us, heal us, and change us. She also loves paintings, nature, animals, and coffee. She lives in Harvard, Ma.
Debbie (Herrick) Rowe, Minister of Communication
Debbie is a graduate of Framingham State College and, although she has been working at Pilgrim Church since 1998, she has been a member of the church community for most of her life. She is the leader of a women’s fellowship group which discusses subjects related to women’s spirituality. Her favorite spiritual practice is centering meditation and she enjoys reading, walking and organizing.
Carla Mason, Bell Choir Director
Carla Mason is special education teacher in Marlborough who leads our Bell Choir. Part of our staff since 2003, she is also an avid singer, knitter, and church member. Bell Choir is open to musicians of all talents and Carla creates a welcoming environment where our ringers love each other deeply as they make beautiful music every Wednesday. She lives with her wife Kathy in Shrewsbury.
Sarah Hile, Director of Sr. High Youth Programs
A graduate of Indiana University and Northeastern University, Sarah began service at Pilgrim Church in 2005. She is a licensed Mental Health Therapist, and has completed 10 short-term mission trips to cities like New York and Washington, D.C., as well as disaster areas New Orleans and Jacksonville, Florida. She is the author of blogs on topics relating to teens and adults. Her favorite spiritual practice is loving kindness meditation, and she loves to ice dance. She lives with her sons and husband David in Westborough.
Jolene Chapski, Nursery Care Provider
Jolene Chapski is the infant room child care provider for Sunday morning services. She has been a resident of Southborough for 24 years and moved here when she was expecting her first child. She has 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl ages 25 to 18. She currently works full-time for the Northborough-Southborough Schools in the Superintendent’s Office.
Susan Maurice, Toddler Care Provider
Susan Maurice has been a member of Pilgrim Church for many years and working in the toddler room for 4 years. Sue used to help Bea Johnson, a former child care provider, when she was in the toddler room. Sue enjoyed helping Bea and playing with the kids. This is why Sue is in the toddler room taking care of the kids and watching them grow up to be young adults. She lives her husband Dan in Mendon.
Russ Goliger, Student Minister
Russ Goliger joins our ministry team as a Student Minister currently working on his Masters of Divinity at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. Russ brings a diversity of ministry experience with him. Immediately prior to this engagement, Russ served the First Congregational Church in Worcester, MA for four months as a Licensed Minister of the Word and Sacrament providing pulpit supply while their senior pastor was on sabbatical. He served as Music Director for twelve years at the First Church in Marlborough (Congregational) United Church of Christ. He is the proud father of three young adults, Olivia, William and Timothy. In addition to his studies and fatherhood, Russ is a professional consultant providing Instructional Designer and Project Management services for corporate training departments.
Stephen Hebert, Minister in Care
A proud Texan and graduate of both the University of Texas and Harvard Divinity School, Stephen began preaching and teaching at Pilgrim in 2015. In addition to preaching and writing for Pilgrim’s blog, Stephen also serves as a chaplain and teacher of ethics and of world religions at St. Mark’s School in Southborough. When he isn’t reading, writing, or teaching, Stephen can typically be found on a golf course or spending time with his wife and son.
