How Do You Find Your Resources?

And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

This week, Pastor Charley challenged folks to consider their resources.

No matter what else you’re feeling, helplessness seems to be in the air these days. Many of the ads I hear include something about people feeling stressed and emotionally unsteady. Which is not to say you should feel that way if you don’t! But some folks are dealing with a lot. If you’re in that camp, it’s important to recognize your resources.

Some of them are internal, like your ability to get rest and to care for yourself. Some are external, like your church family and others who care about you and how you’re feeling.

We don’t all have the same resources, or the same amounts; but we can all do something.

This past Sunday was Pentecost, and God gave the disciples tremendous resources to share the Good News of Jesus. They were empowered to speak in many languages to do the work of evangelism. We won’t all get the same thing from God, but it’s always worth taking time to pray when you’ve got more than you can handle.

You don’t have to do everything, and sometimes you need a little help. Your church family is another great source of connection and strength. We also offer a space where you can just put down the phone and stop the stream of bad news. Human connection is a great healer, and it’s here!

Join us whenever you need a little top-off, 9:30 am on Sundays from June 28 through August 30, and 10 am the rest of the year!
