Coming Second Thursdays beginning October 8th, The New Pilgrim Church Movie Club

Pastor Charley often points out that one of the best campaigns the United Church of Christ ever ran was “God is Still Speaking.” The idea was that God is still speaking, so churches (and their people) should still be listening. And so should the rest of the world!

Sometimes God is still speaking in worship. Sometimes God speaks in prayer. Sometimes God speaks to us through other people. You may even catch a glimpse, every now in then, in entertainment like movies and books and TV. It doesn’t matter if the film was created for that purpose. In fact, the best discoveries come when it wasn’t!

The Pilgrim Church Movie Club will meet on the second Thursday of each month, probably at AMC in Framingham, and we’ll watch a movie we’ve chosen. Then, on the following Sunday, we’ll have a discussion group after worship for anyone who wants to talk about what they’ve seen and “where God was” in the film.

Since our first night out will be October 8th, we’ll have our first discussion after worship on October 11th in the Church Parlor

You may come to any Movie Club Night! You may attend the movie and not the discussion. You may attend the discussion and not the movie, if you don’t mind spoilers! You don’t need to be knowledgeable about films OR God. We’ll learn together.

The only cost is your movie ticket and any snacks you want to buy. If you have a suggestion of which movie you’d like to see October 8th, share it with Pastor Charley. Whatever gets the most requests will be the next movie, and he’ll share the show time and we’ll meet in the lobby beforehand.
