Our Healthy Living Group is currently reading the book Humor Me by Chris Duffy
This fun read is all about working to develop a healthier sense of humor. You might think that the point is to become funnier, but that’s not really what Duffy’s after. His claim is that there are already enough comedians in the world–he’s after something else. He’s trying to help us find more humor in our lives. More humor means laughing more, enjoying more, and practicing generosity of spirit.
On the other hand, if he gives you a few stray ideas about being funnier, would that be such a bad thing?
Duffy himself IS a comedian, and a great writer. He organizes the chapters around principles of finding funny moments and lifting up the funny of others. The basic principle of the book is that humorous things are happening all around us, and we can learn to see and enjoy them.
Of course, you don’t have to come to Healthy Living Mondays at 10 am in the parlor to read the book…
But if you do, you’ll be surrounded by a bunch of folks who are reading it and who may offer insights that enrich your reading. Feel free to drop in any time, and if you want to learn more about the book, you may do so here.
Whether you do or not, we hope you’ll find something funny this week, and share it with others. Humor is a great tool for social connection, and it can put real life in your years. And if you’re short on funny this week, have the image below of the laughing guy who’s not afraid to show his teeth.
